Stupid amount of games on sale on Steam.

I'm picking up Torchlight for $10, but the Eidos Collector's pack looks like a really good deal.

Yup, picked up Torchlight myself. I'm waiting/hoping for Machinarium to come down in price too.

Update: Torchlight now on steam for $5. Other titles there too (like Total War games) for under $5. I picked up both TW games and EQ2: TSO for like $12.

Torchlight is pretty much a direct Diablo2 clone with some of the annoyances fixed and updated graphics. If you liked D2 it looks like you should get this while it's on sale.

Just bought Machinarium on Steam for $10.

Might pick up Burnout Paradise: Ultimate Box for $7.49.

The Steam sale has been absolutely amazing. Valve will have my loyalty for the foreseeable future. Picked up the id complete pack, the Serious Sam HD remake, and some others. Some of the deals are amazing.

I'm really getting excited for Mass Effect 2 coming at the end of January. The first one was a pretty cool story, world, and characters with kind of ho-hum combat. It looks like they have really polished the combat and inventory systems for the sequel though, some of the gameplay videos they have released look amazingly fun. Bioware always seems to come through.

MMO-hijack in the non-MMO thread:

The Steam sale also includes MMOs. I've seen Vanguard, EQ2, and EQ for less than $5. So if you wanted to try one of those out (or want to quickly update your account with keys), you can get all-inclusive upgrades for under $5. Now's a great time to try out some of these games.

I picked up the Eidos Collector's Pack, Torchlight, and the X-Com complete pack which is apparently a waste of money because only the first two are any good (I hadn't played the 3-5 ones and assumed they'd just be about the same as the first two, boy was I wrong.)

Eidos pack was stupid good. $50 and I got Batman, Hitman 1-2, Kane and Lynch, Thief, and Deus Ex game of the year edition - I'd never played any of these, although I don't think my computer can handle Arkham Asylum atm.

The Steam sales have been amazing. Witcher is currently on sale for $14; great price for a great game.

I think I'm the only person who didn't like Deus Ex. Sure, the story line was cool and the weapons were decent, but the inventory management was infuriating and all the little secret shit made me nuts.

Freedom Force is probably worth the $2 I got it for (sale), but it got old fast.

Picked up Mount and Blade ($5 on sale) and installed some mods for it, that's my next one.

Tales of Vesperia was fan fucking tastic, if you like Final Fantasy type games and have a 360 get it.

Looking forward to being able to play a Final Fantasy on my own console for the first time since Super Nintendo (not counting DS - I didn't buy any of the Playstations) when 13 comes out on 360.

I really enjoyed Mass Effect 2. The game improved on just about every aspect of the first game. I never played Deus Ex, and have been thinking about maybe picking it up since it is so highly regarded. I'm looking forward to playing the Dawn of War II expansion thats coming out soon. Much love for Steam.

Mount and Blade is eating my soul. Literally. Om nom nom.

Really good game. Buy it next time it's on sale.

You start off as a freelance medieval knight in a land with 5 kingdoms. You can stay freelance or pledge to one of those kingdoms. You build up an army and the fights are similar to dynasty warriors. Eventually you can get your own village. There's siege fights and shit.

Ton of mods out there too. Some people modded it into colonials vs Indians, etc. I'm using a few graphics mods.

I downloaded the Mount and Blade demo off Steam, but haven't touched it because I bought the Dawn of Discovery Gold pack, which has the original game and the expansion. Oh my god, I haven't played a game all day in forever. This thing rocks.

If you decide to play Mount and Blade, learn the basics in the vanilla version, then once you've taken a few castles switch over to the Prophecy of Pendor module. It's way more awesome.

I don't like DoW1 very much. Massive amounts of troops creating chokepoints all over is not cool.

Portal 2 makes me excited in my pants. It's due out this year.

Beat the Defense Grid: The Awakening's free DLC Borderlands. Good for an hour of fun.
Company of Heroes is not my thing. DoW II seems like they made the genre more fun, but my computer can't run it.
Right now, playing Far Cry because I never did and it runs smooth on my computer. It's good. Also playing Titan's quest at work as the game is easy enough to use a trackpad. I like it better than D2 and not sure why.
Picked up Trine for $5 last weekend.

Hoping Fallout3 or Dragon Age go on sale for a big discount soon. Otherwise waiting on a new computer so I can play Arkham Asylum and DoWII

FFXIV and/or DC MMO need to come out.

Trine was not worth the $5 I bought it on sale for. Cool idea, but very repetitive and gameplay doesn't change much from first level.

Civ4 sucks my soul out. Only problem is that the mods run slow as shit after an hour or so due to how the code works or some shit.

Yeah, I've been busting out Civ4 after reading about the upcoming Civ5. That series easily holds the crown for days played for me.

Steam Summer Sale is going on, new deals every day. I've picked up Killing Floor for $5, and all the Defense Grid DLCs for half price. Since I bought so much shit during Christmas sale, there's not much else I wanted.

Been playing the shit out of Civ4 Beyond the Sword mod Fall from Heaven 2. Also been playing the shit out of Killing Floor, which I wish had been made by Valve instead of the L4D games. Killing huge waves of zombies > escape missions.

Carolina and I have been playing Aion on a free server, and also Lego Star Wars on the 360. Both are adequate fun, nothing spectacular.

New PC soon. Then I will finally be able to play the DoW2, Batman Arkham Asylum, and Mass Effect 2 that I bought a long time ago.

Batman Arkham Asylum is highly entertaining. I'm a big, big fan. Combat is kinda meh, but the puzzles and the "lore" or however you want to call it is fantastic.

Killing Floor and TF2 are both still crazy addictive.

Dawn of War 2 has the same problem pretty much every RTS has for me - I suck too much to play multiplayer and have fun, but single player is too easy.

Yeah I loved Arkham Asylum when I played it on my PS3, I hope they keep the quality to the same standard in the inevitable sequel. Still play TF2 a lot, and I see you join once in a while too Graham. I don't blame you for not staying long because I'm a wierdo and mostly play 2fort. I guess that comes from my Counter-Strike days endlessly playing Dust over and over.

I am exactly the same as you with the RTS games. With DoWII it's even worse because the multiplayer is so very different from the single player. I worry about this with Starcraft 2 coming out. I just don't seem to get as much out of these type of games as most people. I can excel at a shooter, but I can't seem to micromanage an RTS army with any amount of skill.

If any of you were fans of the Transformers show when you were a kid, I heartily recommend Transformers: War for Cybertron. The game is fun, the environments are crazily detailed, and you can just tell the game was made by people with genuine love for the franchise. The multiplayer is pretty fun too.

Has anyone seen Alien Swarm coming out on steam in the next few days. Seems to be a 3rd person L4D replacing zombies with aliens. Only asking since it's multiplayer and free.

Apparently it's a mod for UT2k4 originally, Valve hired the developers to work on L4D2 and Portal 2 and now they're putting this out for free. I'll be playing it at least some!
